The First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit of $8,000 has been extended!
This is great news for our Military Homebuyers. All you need to do is be under contract on a home by April 30, 2010 and then close your transaction no later than June 30, 2010.
This credit is for anyone who has not owned a home in the past three years and who makes less than $125,000 per year (if you’re single) or $250,000 per year (if you’re married and filing jointly). The credit is paid to you with your tax refund, and is on top of any other refund you’re entitled to.
Also, if you are a current homeowner and have been in your home for at least five years out of the past eight years, you could receive a tax credit of up to $6,500.
Both of these credits are real money in your pocket – simply for buying a home. Just think of it, you can purchase a home using VA financing for NO money out of your pocket at closing AND get paid a pretty good chunk of change for doing so.
Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. Home prices in the Jacksonville area are extremely low at this time, as are VA interest rates. The first-time homebuyer credit WILL end. Don’t be kicking yourself because you didn’t take advantage of all the opportunities you have available to you as a Veteran or Active Duty Military.
