Old Colorado City

About Old Colorado City

Old Colorado City, formerly Colorado City, was once a town, but it is now a neighborhood within the city of Colorado Springs and was founded during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush of 1859 and was involved in the mining industry, both as a supply hub and as a gold ore processing center. Old Colorado City is located just west of downtown and is the oldest area in Colorado Springs full of charm and rich in history. The area is a popular local tourist attraction and home to many small boutiques, shops, art galleries, and locally owned restaurants. Styles of homes range from 1880-era Victorian homes to 1900-1920 bungalows and an array of homes build in the first half of the 1900s. Colorado Springs School District #11 serves this area.
